What’s one thing that would instantly improve your city?

If there’s one thing that would instantly improve Abu Dhabi for both residents and travelers, it’s more shaded, walkable routes connecting major attractions.

Abu Dhabi has world-class spots — the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Watan — but getting between them on foot in the summer heat isn’t practical. Right now, you’re dependent on taxis or tours even for short distances.

Imagine a network of cooled, green walkways or electric hop-on trams linking the Corniche, cultural district, and heritage areas. It would do 3 things instantly:

1. Make the city more tourist-friendly: Travelers could explore at their own pace instead of rushing from one AC car to another. That’s how you turn a “stopover city” into a “stay 3 days” city.

2. Showcase local life: Shaded boulevards with cafés, dates markets, and public art would let visitors experience Emirati daily culture, not just the big-ticket landmarks.

3. Sustainable tourism: Less car use, more foot traffic for small businesses. It aligns with the UAE’s green vision too.

On my last glimpsetrip to Abu Dhabi, I filmed how stunning the city looks at golden hour — but I had to cut the walk short because of the heat. More walkable infrastructure would let us actually soak in the city instead of just seeing it through a window.
